Best Overall Affiliate Meeting Award

Awarded to the Affiliate hosting a comprehensive meeting (not sponsored/co-sponsored by IAFP*) addressing a wide range of food safety topics or multiple aspects of a single relevant issue (e.g., an emerging food safety issue that appeals to a broad audience). Note that this does not have to be the Affiliate’s Annual Meeting. The award consists of a framed certificate.

Selection Method and Criteria

Affiliate Awards Selection Committee Members for each award will consist of the Chair, Past Chair, and Secretary of the Affiliate Council. Selection Committee Members will recuse themselves from reviewing and judging submissions from their respective Affiliate, with a former Affiliate Council Chair to be selected to serve as an alternate judge.

The Selection Committee will judge the overall quality of an Affiliate’s meeting based on information and material submitted, along with a brief explanation (500 words or less) on Attachment B of the Affiliate’s Annual Report of how this meeting stands out. Supporting material submitted could be a food safety program agenda or other document that includes background/objectives of the program; presentation/activity titles; speakers’ names and affiliations; and/or brief biographic or presentation summaries, sponsors and exhibitors, etc. (see checklist with Award Description within the Annual Report submission form). Supporting materials could also include information on student involvement; attendee participation (e.g., through roundtable discussions, exercises, etc.); partnering with other associations or affiliates to broaden the appeal of the meeting and draw in attendees; the number of attendees; engagement of attendees during the meeting and with exhibitors (if applicable); how the meeting appealed to the diversity of attendees (e.g., those in services, academics, retail, manufacturers, government). Where applicable, note if the meeting included a celebration of a milestone Affiliate anniversary and related activities. Please do not submit copies of speakers’ entire Power Point slide presentations.
