Des Moines, Iowa - The International Association for Food Protection (IAFP) selected Mondelēz International as the 2021 recipient of the prestigious Black Pearl Award. Sponsored by F&H Food Equipment Company, the Black Pearl Award will be presented at IAFP’s Annual Meeting in Phoenix, Arizona.
This honor is given annually to one company for its efforts in advancing food safety and quality through consumer programs, employee relations, educational activities, adherence to standards, and support of the goals and objectives of IAFP.
Based in Chicago, Illinois, Mondelēz International is the home to some of the world’s most well-recognized consumer brands in more than 150 countries – OREO, belVita and LU biscuits; Cadbury Dairy Milk, Milka, and Toblerone chocolate; Sour Patch Kids candy, and Trident gum. The company has a rich portfolio of strong brands, both global and local. Mondelēz International global brands are beloved around the world, and its local jewel brands – including Cote d’Or and Alpen Gold chocolate, Tate’s Bake Shop cookies, and Kinh Do biscuits – are intertwined with the fabric of particular countries and play a unique role to satisfy consumers’ demands for local taste.
Common to every product made by Mondelēz International in the 150 countries where the company’s snacks are enjoyed, its operations have an unswerving commitment by every colleague to deliver safety and quality for consumers. Food safety culture starts at the top, and that is why the Mondelēz International Quality Policy embeds Food Safety and Quality compliance right at the heart of the organization, with a common purpose of ‘Snacking Made Right.’ Food safety is therefore a ‘way of working’ at Mondelēz International, and its processes are designed to ensure consumer safety is at the forefront of everything the company does. Its food safety and quality approach is recognized across the industry, and Mondelēz subject matter experts are well respected in the industrial, academic, and regulatory communities.
Mondelēz International’s approach to ethical standards, diversity and inclusion, and social responsibility underpin the delivery of safe and quality products as much as processes, procedures, equipment, and training. In this way, every person can achieve their potential through a combination of technical and behavioral skills development, empowering the individual to not just do the right thing but to do it in the right way – a truly cultural approach to food safety and quality.
